Boise Chamber Music Society Announces String Quartet Competition Results

The Albertson College String Quartet is the Collegiate Grand Prize Winner of the Boise Chamber Music Society’s Second Annual Young Artist String Quartet Competition, held April 21 in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. One of two competition quartets from Centennial High School, the Caelum String Quartet, took the Pre-college Grand Prize. Second places were awarded to the Boise State String Quartet and the Timberline High School String Quartet. The competitions were adjudicated by the Alexander String Quartet, in residence for the final 2006-07 concert of the Boise Chamber Music Series. First-place winners received cash prizes, and performed a short reprise recital the following day, joined by the runners-up.

Members of the Albertson College String Quartet include Seth Mattison and Layne Venderbeek, violins; Joelle Arnhold, viola; and Emily Tynon, cello. Langroise Trio violist David Johnson is their coach. Members of the Caelum String Quartet–McKenzie Bauer and Conner von Huene, violins; Amy Tompkins, viola; and Bailey Burns, cello–are coached by Centennial High Orchestra Director Marcia von Huene.

The events of the Boise Chamber Music Series are sponsored by the Boise Chamber Music Society and the Boise State Dept. of Music.
