2023 Winners Release

18th Annual BCMS Young Artist String Quartet Competition Results

The Boise Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce the results of the Eighteenth Annual Young Artists String Quartet Competitions, as judged Saturday, Mar. 4, by the members of the Jupiter String Quartet.

The Pre-College Competition, including the $800 prize, was won by the Boise Bass Quartet from Boise High School: Moss Peterman, violin; Caroline Turcke, violin; Ben Herrara, viola; and Kurt Robison, bass; coached by Laurel Talley and performing works by Beethoven and Dvorak. Two other quartets from Boise High and Timberline High also performed in the Pre-college round.

The Collegiate Competition, including the $1000 prize, was won by sFOURzando Quartet from Brigham Young University-Idaho: Elizabeth Jones, violin; Michael Weir, violin; Emily Hornick, viola; Lewis Garner, cello; coached by Dallin Hansen and performing works by Beethoven and Florence Price. Two additional quartets from BYU-Id, The Fulminar Quartet and the Allegría Quartet, performed.
