The Boise Chamber Music Series Young Artist String Quartet Competitions

The Boise Chamber Music Series Young Artist String Quartet Competitions began in May of 2006, in celebration of the Boise Chamber Music Series 20th Anniversary event.  Members of the Ying Quartet judged two rounds, one pre-college and one collegiate, choosing first-place winners from Timberline High School (Phyllis Saunders) and Boise State University (Craig Purdy).  These winning student quartets performed at the Egyptian Theatre lobby at the Saturday night gala concert of the Ying Quartet together with the Turtle Island String Quartet.

Since that year, the BCMS has sponsored and run the competitions each spring.  The 2009-2010 competition will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010, and the Enso Quartet will serve as adjudicators.  Students and coaches interested in the guidelines should contact Jeanne Belfy for details.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
