Announcing Boise Chamber Music Series 2012-13

The 2012-13 season of the Boise Chamber Music Series brings old and new friends from near and far. On Sept. 14, a rising piano trio from Chicago, the Lincoln Trio—Desirée Ruhstrat, violin, David Cunliffe, cello, and Marta Aznavoorian, piano—have been described by The Strad as "sensational...bewitching." Check out their live performance of "Café Music" by Paul Schoenfield on YouTube. On Oct. 26, the stage will be full of Czechs as we welcome back the effortless virtuosity of the Czech Nonet, continuing a tradition founded in 1924 in Prague. This terrific combination of winds and strings plays a wide repertoire, and for us this year, from Schubert to Prokofiev, with a heart-warming Dvorak conclusion. To warm us up on Mar.1, we will meet Cuarteto Latinoamericano, leading Mexican specialists in all Latin American string quartet literature and Grammy nominees for Best Chamber Music as well as best Latin recordings.

On Apr. 12 we look forward to another return of the Alexander Quartet from San Francisco, with their tremendously solid recording background of Mozart, Beethoven, and Shostakovich cycles, and their long history of consistently top-notch commissioning. The Alexanders are over thirty years old as a quartet now. They will conclude our season, and graciously adjudicate our Eighth Annual Young Artist String Quartet Competitions on Apr. 13.
