Eighth Annual Young Artists String Quartet Competition

The Boise Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce the results of the Eighth Annual Young Artists String Quartet Competition, as judged Saturday, Apr. 13, by the members of the Alexander String Quartet, who performed the night before on the Boise Chamber Music Series.

First place, including the $800 prize, in the Pre-College round was awarded to the Boise High String Quartet: Emma Ryan and Jacqueline Audas, violins; Ian Faucher, viola; and Kathy Audas, cello; coached by Wendy Hartman, and performing works by Grieg and Beethoven. Pre-College Runner-Up prize of $600 was awarded to Capital High School Quartet: Christa Cole and Miranda Tang, violins; Bailey Clark, viola; and Jacob Hynes, cello; coached by Sandy Shoen. Other high school quartets selected to perform at the event were the Timberline Quartet and the Caldwell High School Chamber players.

First place in the Collegiate round with a prize of $1000 was awarded to a quartet from Boise State University, with violinists Nicole Oswald and Yonsoo Park, violist Cruz Torres, and cellist David Feldman, as coached by three BSU string faculty members, Linda Kline Lamar, Craig Purdy, and Brian Hodges. Also competing was another quartet from Boise State University: Rosa Mickey, and Caid Jones, violins; Juddah Claffey, viola; and Samaquias Lorta, cello.
