Fourteenth Annual Young Artists String Quartet Competition
The Boise Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce the results of the Fourteenth Annual Young Artists String Quartet Competition, as judged Saturday, Mar. 9, by the members of the Parker Quartet.
The Pre-College Competition, including the $800 prize, was won by the Tablerock Quartet from Timberline High School: Julie Tan and Reiko Tachibana, violins; Camille Bryner, viola; Lewis Garner, cello; coached by Phyllis Saunders and performing works by Mozart and Grieg.
The Collegiate Competition, including the $1000 prize, was won by Boise State’s Quartet 219: Yonsoo Park, violin; Nathan Kim, violin; Lydia Montague, viola; Ava Camilo, cello; coached by Craig Purdy, Brian Hodges and Linda Kline, and performing works by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.
Other Pre-College Quartets who qualified as Finalists for the live competition, through a recorded round, were Boise High School’s Eight Street Quartet and Timberline High School’s Timberline Quartet. Finalist Collegiate quartets included the Beehive Quartet from BYU Idaho and the College of Idaho String Quartet.
