13th Annual BCMS Young Artist String Quartet Competitions

The Boise Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce the results of the Thirteenth Annual Young Artists String Quartet Competition, as judged Saturday, Mar. 17, 2018, by the members of the Jasper String Quartet.

The Pre-College Competition, including the $800 prize, was won by the Tablerock Quartet from Timberline High School: Reiko Tachibana, violin; Leyandra Snyder, violin; Camille Bryner, viola; Lewis Garner, cello; coached by Phyllis Saunders and performing works by Haydn and Schubert. The Pre-College Competition, with four live performances, was extended to a $500 Runner-Up Prize won by the Wolf Quartet, also from Timberline High School: Hannah Lim, violin; Julia Tan, violin; Derek Focht, viola; Andrea Haage, cello; coached by Phyllis Saunders and performing works by Beethoven and Dvorak.

The Collegiate Competition, including the $1000 prize, was won by The College of Idaho String Quartet: Courtney Kelly, violin; Haden Duncan, violin; Miranda Tang, viola; Heather Green, cello; coached by David Johnson, and performing works by Beethoven and Grieg.

Other Pre-College Quartets who competed live were Boise High School’s Catalpa Quartet and Centennial High School’s Requiem for a String. The other Collegiate contestant was the Quartetto Impresario from Boise State University.
