Boise Chamber Music Series 2015-16 season subscriptions on sale now

On Sept. 11, THE VIENNA TRIO deplanes in Boise, Idaho, for the first concert of its 2015 U.S. tour—returning to us after its Boise debut nine years ago. Pianist and founding member Stefan Mendl and cellist Matthias Gredler are joined by new violinist David McCarroll. Founded in 1988, the Vienna Piano Trio achieved a “meteoric rise to fame” (Strad), and has been hailed as one of the “world’s leading ensembles of piano, violin and cello” (Washington Post).  Their opening program will feature Beethoven’s Op. 70, no. 2; Schubert’s Op. 100 in E-flat Major; and a 2009 commissioned work by young German composer Johannes Maria Staud called "Für Bálint András Varga"- Ten Miniatures for

Oct. 30, we welcome back our friends from the Windy City, who inaugurated our hall’s new Steinway B in September of 2012.  In 2012 FANFARE Magazine hailed the celebrated Chicago-based LINCOLN TRIODesirée Ruhstrat, violin, David Cunliffe, cello, and Marta Aznavoorian, piano—as "one of the hottest young trios in the business." Formed in 2003, the Lincoln Trio takes its name from their home, the land of Lincoln.   Since their last visit, their critically acclaimed release on the NAXOS label of Annelies, based on the Diary of Anne Frank, was nominated for a Grammy, and in October of 2014 the Trio released their latest CD, which includes the entire works of Joaquin Turina for piano and strings, on the Cedille Label.

Making their debut BCMS appearance on Mar. 11, the MECCORRE QUARTET, praised for its breathtaking performances, flawless technique, and visionary interpretations, took four prizes at the London International String Quartet Competition at Wigmore Hall in April 2012. The Quartet also has received top prizes at the Paolo Borciani Competition (2011), the International Chamber Music Competition in Weiden (2010), and the Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition (2009).   Formed by four of Europe’s most celebrated young string players in 2007, Meccorre now performs extensively in major halls throughout Europe, including the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Beethovenhaus in Bonn, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Wigmore Hall in London, and Musikverein in Vienna.

On Apr. 22, we welcome back for their second appearance on the BCMS, the NEW YORK WOODWIND QUINTET, which, in its seventh decade, continues to maintain an active concert presence around the world while also teaching and mentoring the next generation of woodwind performers.  The Quintet has commissioned and premiered numerous compositions, some of which have become classics of the woodwind repertoire. They include Samuel Barber’s Summer Music, and quintets by Gunther Schuller, Ezra Laderman, William Bergsma, Alec Wilder, William Sydeman, Wallingford Riegger, Jon Deak, and Yehudi Wyner. The Quintet has also featured many of these works in recordings for such labels as Boston Skyline, Bridge, New World and Nonesuch. We look forward to re-experiencing the consummate artistry of the same current members: Carol Wincenc, flute; Stephen Taylor, oboe; Charles Neidich, clarinet; Bill Purvis, horn; and Marc Goldberg, bassoon.
